More Cuban Dengue Damage Control

More Cuban Dengue Damage Control

The junta has stepped up its propaganda on dengue fever to make it appear that they are on top of the situation so as to ease the fears of the tourists. They issue these stories about how wonderful Cuba is at fighting dengue fever but never say how that could be. Propaganda like this never addresses the real cause behind the many dengue fever outbreaks that Cuba has experienced since Castro violently grabbed power 48 years ago - filth and squalor. The junta cannot even afford to haul away the trash that holds the water which breeds the mosquitoes carrying dengue. They still have not contain outbreaks in a number of areas inside Cuba but you won't hear about that. In fact they put some doctors in the gulag for decades just for admitting that there was a dengue fever outbreak last year. And if the dengue doesn't do you tourists in then the bug spray they are choking the air with trying to stop it surely will.

Wikipedia Cuban Page Manipulation

Wikipedia Cuban Page Manipulation

It seems apparent that Cuban government agents are yet again attempting to control Wikipedia Cuban page. They are now trying to erase anything that makes the Cuban government look bad. Apparently some are able to access this page from Cuba and they do not want stuff leaking out.

Today they started in earnest, it generally takes them a while to do
this....

Two Main Cuban Types

Two Main Cuban Types

Yes today there are two main types of Cubans in the world - those who think Fidel is dead and those who wish he were. Also, there are a very small number of Cubans who know for sure that Castro is dead but wish it were not so for job security.

Verizon Delays Me Again

Verizon Delays Me Again

The phone company just called me to advise that even tough I've waited three weeks for service they are canceling my appointment for tomorrow and rescheduling it for this Sunday. So I'm still mostly cut off from the outside world until I get to work. This is why I have not been here much. That and also all the logistics with moving. Hopefully they will be done before I have to do my Blogtalk radio show this Sunday night or it's back to Annapolis!

Cuban Tourism and Civil War

Cuban Tourism and Civil War

For those of you who have ventured to Cuba to enjoy a relaxing vacation complete with your own 50 cent per day Cuban slaves - you may want to alter your travel plans. Cubans expect change once it is officially announced that Fidel is dead. Perhaps the regime will change. But it is more likely they will attempt another rhetoric laced propaganda offensive to scare the Cuban people into giving them more time to make things better. This will no longer work. Too many Cuban mothers are tired of hearing their babies cry for lack of food. Too many Cuban men are tired of prostituting their women to put food on the table because the regime outlaws all other forms of commerce that we take for granted. So let this be a warning to you vacationers to Cuba. You may be sipping your Mohito in the middle of a civil war this season. Bon voyage!
